Box

Opposites are a simple way to grow vocabulary: big goes with small, hot with cold, full with empty. Every box on these sheets has words on the left and their opposites on the right in a mixed-up order. The child reads a word, finds its opposite and joins the two dots with a line. No opposite ever sits right across from its word, so every line has to be found by reading.

The word pairs are everyday opposites a young child knows: up and down, day and night, wet and dry, fast and slow, clean and dirty. Pairs that could be mixed up, like up and down next to top and bottom, never share a box. Set Pairs to 4, 5 or 6 pairs in a box, and choose one or two boxes on a page.

The answer key shows where every line goes. Press New sheet for new pairs. Every sheet prints in color or black and white, on US Letter or A4. Nothing to sign up for.
