Early readers need sentences they can actually read and a reason to read them. Every box here has an outline picture and one short sentence, like Color the kite red. The child reads the sentence, finds the color and colors the picture. The pictures are words a beginner can sound out: sun, cat, star, kite, frog. The word for the color is the only thing that tells the child which crayon to pick, so the sentence has to be read.

Set Colors to 4 for red, blue, green and yellow, or to 8 to add orange, purple, pink and brown. Choose four or six sentences on the page. No picture repeats on a sheet. The pictures are outlines even on a color print, because coloring is the point.

The answer key names the right color for every picture. Press New sheet for new sentences. Every sheet prints in color or black and white, on US Letter or A4. Nothing to sign up for.
