Fractions start with equal parts. Every box on these sheets has a shape cut into two, three or four equal pieces: a circle cut in half, a square in fourths, a rectangle in thirds, a hexagon in three diamonds. The child colors one part and reads the label under the shape, like Color 1/2, one half. The same fraction comes in different shapes and different cuts, so the child sees that one half of a square can be a strip or a triangle.

Set Parts to 2 parts for halves only, Halves, fourths, or 2, 3 or 4 parts to mix in thirds. Choose four or six shapes on a page; no shape repeats on a sheet. On a color print the shapes are lightly tinted, on a black and white print they are plain outlines ready for crayons.
