Shape

Flat shapes have names, and so do solid ones. Every box on these sheets shows a 3D shape drawn with its sides shaded and three names next to it. The child looks at the shape, reads the names and circles the right one. Dashed lines show the edges you would not see from the front, the way solid shapes are drawn in school books. The names are the ones children learn first: cube, sphere, cone and cylinder, then pyramid and rectangular prism.

Set Shapes to 4 basic shapes for cube, sphere, cone and cylinder only, or All 6 shapes to add the pyramid and the rectangular prism. Choose four or six shapes on a page. The wrong names always come from the same set, so a child has to read the word, not just spot the only long one.

The answer key names every shape. Press New sheet for new shapes and new choices. Every sheet prints in color or black and white, on US Letter or A4. Nothing to sign up for.
