Row

Finding the odd one out trains a child to look closely and compare: every row shows four pictures, three of them match and one does not. The child looks from picture to picture, finds the one that is different and draws a circle around it. It is an early thinking skill that comes before sorting, patterns and reading, where small differences between letters matter.

Set Level to Easy and the odd one is a different picture: three apples and a star. Set it to Hard and all four pictures are the same, but one of them is turned the other way — a fish swimming left among fish swimming right. Only pictures that clearly face one side are used on Hard, so the turned one can always be seen. Choose four, six or eight rows on a page.

Press New sheet for new rows, or click a row to move the odd one to another place. The answer key prints on a second page only when you ask for it and shows the odd one in every row. Every sheet prints in color or black and white, on US Letter or A4. Nothing to sign up for.
