Hearing the parts of a word comes before reading it. Every box shows a picture and its word — cat, zebra, butterfly. The child says the word out loud, claps once for each part and circles the number of claps. Words like flower and orange, which people say in different ways, are left out, so every answer is clear.
Set Syllables to 1, 2 or 3 for all the words, or to 1 or 2 for an easier page with two circles to choose from. Every page has about the same number of words for each number of claps, so guessing does not help. Choose four, six or nine pictures. No picture repeats on a page.
Press New sheet for new words. The answer key prints on a second page only when you ask for it. Every sheet prints in color or black and white, on US Letter or A4. Nothing to sign up for.
