Story problems turn numbers into something that happens: there are 5 frogs on a log, 2 frogs hop away, how many are left? Every row on these sheets is one short story about things a child knows, with the pictures right under it. The child reads the story, looks at the pictures and writes the number sentence and the answer in the boxes, like 5 - 2 = 3. In take-away stories the pictures that leave are crossed out, so the child can check by counting.
Set Stories to Addition, Subtraction or Mixed, where adding and taking away take turns. Set Numbers to Up to 5 for the first stories or Up to 10 for the rest. Choose three or four stories on a page; no picture repeats on a sheet. The stories use simple words a beginning reader can manage, or an adult can read them aloud.
The answer key gives every number sentence with its answer. Press New sheet for new stories. Every sheet prints in color or black and white, on US Letter or A4. Nothing to sign up for.
